What do you do to seek the good of other people? We asked our friends how they carry out Jesus' command to "love one another". Lourma Pleños, who serves in her Parish's ministries, shares her answer.

I seek the good of others by being there for them in my own little way, especially when they need someone to listen, to encourage, or simply to accompany them. I have learned from St. Thérèse of the Child Jesus, one of my favorite saints and the patron saint of the parish where I belong, that helping others does not always require grand gestures. More often than not, the most meaningful acts are done quietly and consistently.

I serve in my parish as a lector, part-time catechist, and family collaborator because these ministries allow me to share my faith while supporting others in their journey with God. My recent formation in pastoral counseling through the Parish Intervention Family Collaborator (PIFC) program at the Seminario Mayor de San Carlos has taught me the importance of listening with empathy rather than rushing to offer advice or solutions.

Outside of ministry, I seek the good of others by caring for the people entrusted to me. As a daughter, I strive to care for my aging mother with patience and love. As a mother, I do my best to guide my two grown-up sons with understanding and encouragement. I also have a special love for rescuing stray kittens, believing that compassion extends to all of God's creation.

Above all, I seek the good of others by living my faith in little ordinary moments—offering encouragement, praying for those who suffer, forgiving when it is difficult, and being available to those who need a listening ear. In my own little way, I pray that through my presence, service, and compassion, others may experience God's love and care.
